Maltipoos (Maltepoos) are a cross between a Maltese and a Poodle; therefore, they can carry temperaments of both breeds. From my experience and research, the typical Maltipoo (Maltepoo) temperament (if there is such a thing as typical) is loving, energetic and loyal. They are very loyal to their human family and very protective. Maltipoos (Maltepoos) are full of energy but love to snuggle up on your lap, too.
From this cross a wavy coat is normal; however, some dogs will have more wavy coats than others since the Maltese has straight hair and the Poodle has curly hair. The Maltipoo (Maltepoo) can be any color that the Poodles are. There are white, black, black & white, light fawn, chocolate, parti, and apricot colored Maltipoos (Maltepoos). Regular grooming will help keep the coat free of tangles; however, your puppy needs to be trimmed regularly to keep the hair from matting.
The Maltipoo (Maltepoo) is one of the smartest mix breeds one might encounter because of the two smart breeds from which it is derived (especially the Poodle). You should encounter less problems with housebreaking and crate training (although that varies on a case to case basis) because of the high intelligence of this breed.
Maltipoos (Maltepoos) are a very healthy dog, benefiting from the gene mixing (hybrid vigor) and preventing many of the hereditary health problems purebreds occasionally exhibit. The life expectancy of a Maltipoo (Maltepoo) is approximately 12-15 years.
